Well I had my first real rainy-season experience the other day. It happened that day, that we were going into town to catch a flag ceremony in the town square, which, supposedly was going to happen every night up until independence day. As we got there, we noticed that this didn't
look like a flag ceremony (as we had caught the ending of one, two nights previous), but it was actually the international day for suicide prevention, and there was some sort of program going on with a bunch of tents set up. So while we were sorting out what to do with the rest of our evening, I snapped a few pictures of the cathedral bordering the square, which looked really cool silhouetted against the dark clouds.

It happened about then that we felt a few drops of rain coming from those dark clouds...
As the rain got a little heavier Sandra and I, and Jen, John, and Isabelle (The other people with me) moved under one of the tents that the suicide prevention group had set
up, along with half of the people in the square it seemed. Well, it wasn't long until it
seemed like the rain was letting up, and so we decided to show John and Isabelle the
Catholic Cathedral while we were so close to it. Then as we rounded the corner to-
wards the front of the cathedral it seemed as we had just walked into a torrential rain
storm. Good thing we had shelter. We ducked into the church just as the storm started
to hit. After about a half an hour the streets had flooded, and it still looked like rain

But, although it never stopped, the rain began to lighten up and we thought we d better take a run for our bus. making our way through the crowd who had gathered in front entrance of the cathedral we made our break for it... a whole five feet... We needed to get organized, and make
sure that John and Isabelle (who had just arrived from Canada) were positive they didn t mind getting their shoes wet.
