El Mes De La Patria - A Mariaci Parade

In Mexico September is called El Mes de la Patria... Or the Month of the Fatherland. This month is full of festivities and cultural celebrations. This past week I got to experience a Mariaci (pronounced mah-dee-achee) parade (Mariaci's are the Mexican musician's who are dressed in colourful uniforms and who wear sombreros, and play trumpets, large guitars, harps, or violins!). The Mexican independence day is also celebrated this month, and so it seems that if I wanted to get a true taste of Mexico, this was a great month to come!
